Hydrologic Analysis

  • Client: Pacific Racing Association, Golden Gate Fields Race Track, Albany, California
This project involved the hydrologic analysis of the Golden Gate Fields race track facility located in both Berkeley and Albany, California. The project included an assessment of peak storm flows and the subsequent design of a stormwater conveyance system from the horse barn area to an infield aeration pond. This project also involved the design of an outside wash-down area for the restaurant at the golden Gate Fields race track in Albany, California. In order to eliminate any potential discharge into San Francisco Bay, construction drawings were developed for a design that included a concrete pad, drain system, concrete berms and a roof over the entire area. All wash water is now conveyed into the sanitary sewer.

  • Client: Lumber Mill, Weed, California
A principal of Hydro Analysis performed a hydrologic analysis of the surface runoff collection system for the log decks at a lumber mill. This analysis included an evaluation of the volume and distribution (in time) of runoff from the log decks for a 10-year return period storm based on climatological data collected near the site. Specific tasks included: calculating a detailed water balance; developing runoff hydrographs, interpreting hydrographs of outflow from a proposed detention basin, and designing and performing borehole permeameter (percolation) tests to evaluate seepage from the proposed basin site.
