Soil & Groundwater Remediation

  • Client: Confidential
    This project involved the delineation of a Perchloroethylene (PCE) contaminant plume and the subsequent implementation of a groundwater contamination remediation program for a previous dry cleaner site in San Leandro, California. This project has involved: (1) soil & groundwater plume delineation by GeoProbe and soil boring sampling, (2) installation of various monitoring wells, (3) installation of eleven vapor extraction wells, (4) design and construction of a vapor extraction system, (5) utilization of both blower/carbon adsorption and air-sparging technologies, and (6) identification of several impacted domestic wells in the neighborhood. At the present time, it has been demonstrated that the shallow groundwater plume has been remediated to such an extent that the State RWQCB has approved decommissioning the remediation system.

  • Client: Office Park, Mountain View, California
    A principal of Hydro Analysis managed all aspects of the construction of an offsite groundwater extraction and treatment system. Groundwater contaminated with chlorinated solvents had migrated downgradient off of our client’s property. The groundwater system was originally designed and constructed with two onsite extraction wells. Installed two offsite extraction wells approximately 400 feet from the treatment system. Installed electrical conduit and groundwater extraction piping underground and through a horizontal borehole drilled beneath a four-lane road. Specified, procured, and fabricated treatment system components (granular activated carbon). Performed operation and maintenance checks, carbon change outs, NPDES sampling, and compliance reporting.

  • Client: Sturdy Oil Company, Salinas, California
    This project involved contaminant plume delineation and subsequent implementation of a groundwater contamination remediation program at a service station in Prunedale, California. This project has involved the installation of 27 monitoring wells, the design of a free product extraction and recovery system, design of an air-stripping treatment system, and design of an injection groundwater injection system for treated water.

  • Client: Former Plating Facility, Santa Clara, California
    A principal of Hydro Analysis implemented the remedial action plan for zinc-contaminated groundwater using insitu neutralization/precipitation. Designed and constructed apparatus to add chemical reagents insitu, specifically ferrous iron sulfate and sodium bicarbonate. Set up biweekly dosing schedule for client. Performed periodic monitoring and evaluated effectiveness of dosing.

  • Client: Sunnyvale Lumber, Sunnyvale, California
    This project involved contaminant plume delineation and subsequent implementation of a groundwater contamination remediation program at a lumber yard in Sunnyvale, California. This project has involved the installation of various monitoring wells, several vapor extraction wells, design and construction of a vapor extraction system, and the utilization of both blower/carbon adsorption and IC engine technologies. At the time remediation activities began, free-floating product was measured in the monitoring wells at thicknesses of up to 60 inches. Continued remediation activities have resulted in the recovery of more than 2,500 gallons of gasoline. Currently, only dissolved constituents are present in the shallow groundwater.

  • Client: Truck Repair Facility, San Jose, California
    A principal of Hydro Analysis directed all phases of a 1,600 cubic yard soil excavation including: shoring, dewatering, coordinating truck transportation, field screening and collecting soil samples, evaluating the extent of contamination, backfilling and compaction, and acting as site health and safety officer.
